Hair Myths

Posted in hair care tagged at 10:59 am by Pretty girl

When we do not have the whole information about something we grow myths – that are our predictions or false expectations. is not the only sphere with plenty of myths dominated.

hair beauty

People just believe something is true though they cannot really find any reasons to explain why they believe it is true. Here are some of common myths about . Don’t be among those who have ‘wrong beliefs’!

Trimming Makes Hair Grow Faster

Many people believe that trimming makes hair grow faster and thicker. It is a common myth and there is no truth in this practice.

trimming

The effect you notice is simply an illusion. When you see trimming bangs, spit ends, or shaggy locks you think that your hair is healthier while it just looks healthier due to fact the size of your hairdo is increased.

The speed of your hair growth is mostly determined by genetics but you can help your hair grow faster.

Make sure you eat a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables and products with plenty of protein. Good sources of protein are: eggs, fish, and other lean meats.

Products don’t Work when You Use Them Repeatedly

Another myth is that your hair can build up “immunity” to hair products you use regularly. People often say that their shampoo doesn’t help their hair in the way it used to.

It is actually not true. Hair cannot build up a resistance against products.

In most cases, what these people are experiencing may be a “build up” of styling products. To avoid that, wash your hair once a week with either a clarifying shampoo or rinse with apple cider vinegar that will remove product build up and freshen your hair.

Headbands.

Posted in Hair accessories tagged at 1:59 am by Pretty girl

Headbands are back in fashion and everyone is currently stalking them.

These are great to use on a bad hair day (because hats are soooo not appropriate in the office!) and are a cute accessory.

There are some great headbands that you can use whether or not you have a bad hair day! Here are some tips:

1. A little spray is good!

Hair spray is great to use especially on those thinner bands. Even if they have some type of grip underneath you should lightly spray around the headband for a good all day hold.

2. Keep it simple!

If you are wearing an amazing outfit with lots of detail keep the headband simple. You don’t want the headband to fight with your outfit for attention.

3. Play with it!

There are lots of different types of headbands to suit every mood, outfit and style. You can experiment with colors and textures to find a good look for you!

4. Bang it out!

With bangs being all the rage right now you can still work your bands with a headband. Just seperate your bangs from the rest of your hair and put the headband a bit farther back. Then style your bangs as usual.

Red hair tips

Use Green Eye Products

Red Hair

When selecting the right shades of eye shadows and eyeliners for redheads, I find most earth tones look good – green is an exceptionally good color for them. The shades in the Clinique portfolio that I recommend are: Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow in Cider, Gold Rush, Rum Spice, Lucky Penny, Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Copper Canyon, and Coffee Shop. For eyeliners, try Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Moss or True Khaki, or if she prefers a creamier application, Cream Shaper for Eyes in Egyptian or Brown Sugar. To create the perfect lash look, if she is very fair and has blonde lashes I recommend a brown mascara (not black or black/brown) so her makeup doesn’t look too harsh. When filling in the brows, be careful not to go too dark. You want to use a soft wheat or auburn colored liner.” – Robyn TamuraEye makeup gives you more variety in the color wheel because you can use browns, taupes, violets, moss greens, light pinks, hazels, golds and bronzes. Brown or red-brown mascara will compliment your eyes and eyeliners in brown; beige and hazel (not green) will also look great. Stay away from black mascara or liner, which can look too harsh. A dark blond brow pencil or shadow will be perfect for brows too.” – Christina Kazadzis

Tips for Beautiful Curls

Posted in hair care, hair style tagged , at 1:46 am by Pretty girl

Curls are making a comeback and if you are a lucky girl with natural curls this is a good time for you to show them off! Here are my tips to get the best out of curly hair.

Tip #1. It all starts with a great haircut …

Make sure you get some face framing layers and absolutely no blunt cuts! That will give you a poofy bottom kind of like helmet head. And of course lots of frizz! If your hair is on the thicker side you can get it thinned out a little bit. I have thick hair and I prefer it heavy because it weighs my curls down a bit. Remember, the shorter you go the curlier it will get!

Tip #2. Moisturize!

Get a shampoo for dry/damaged hair (even if you don’t think it’s dry and damaged). Again, dryness=frizz and that’s a four letter word we curly haired girls do not like! I like to use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner. You can find it on Amazon.com for 3.93 for a 12 oz bottle.

Tip # 3. Fight frizz …

Also a great frizz fighter is John Frida’s Frizz Ease. I like to use the hair serum in the extra strength formula but the regular formula would be fine if your hair is not as thick.

This line also has a curl perfector I like to spray on after my gel.

It is the best thing ever invented.

Miley Cyrus haistyle at AMA

Posted in celebrity hair style tagged at 6:57 am by Pretty girl

Miley Cyrus is seen here showing off a gorgeous sequinned dress as she gets ready for the BMI awards held in her hometown of Nashville. And if you had no idea who this girl was, you would NEVER guess by this look that this is a sweet, little sixteen year old girl.
miley-cyrus

No, here Miley Cyrus looks at least five if not ten years her senior here, but no matter how old or young she looks, she indeed looks fabulous. And Miley here is showing off how versatile her overall look is with her long, luscious locks.

We generally see Miley sporting the voluminous wavy look, a look that caters to her teenage freshness and makes her look both young and sexy. Here we see the effects that changing your look can have on your perceived age, as with the straightening of her hair, and glamming it up for an event, Miley has made herself look older, but in a glamorously sophisticated way. Add a sequined mini-dress to the look, and it instantly becomes sexy.

For this look, you want to start off with straightening serum on towel dried hair, and ensure that you distribute the product evenly throughout your hair. Blow dry your hair with a flat paddle brush, and blast the heat directly on your hair shaft as you straighten your hair with the paddle brush.

After your hair is dry, run some pomade through your hair to give your locks some weight that will aid in the straightening factor. You will then flat iron your hair from roots to tips with a wide flat iron.

Spritz some anti humectants spray on your hair and then flat iron your hair again. The anti humectants will eliminate frizz, and with the added heat from the second run at the flat iron, you will seal the hair cuticle and lock in some additional shine. If you want to glam the look up even more, spritz on some glossing serum for an instantly sexy, glamorous look that will shine all night.
